Impostor Software LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the SocialSound mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App.
Apple Music Library (MusicKit): With your permission, the App reads your Apple Music library to display your artists, play history, and listening stats. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. We send only artist names (not your personal data) to our backend to fetch news, concerts, and release information.
Location Data: With your permission, the App uses your location to show concerts and events near you. Your precise location is never stored on our servers. Only your approximate region is used for Ticketmaster and Eventbrite queries.
Contacts: If you use the Smart Sharing feature, you may pick contacts from your address book. Contact data (name, phone, email) is stored locally on your device only and is never sent to our servers.
Anonymous Aggregate Data: We collect anonymous, aggregated data such as artist popularity counts (how many users follow an artist's news). These numbers contain no identifiers and cannot be traced to any individual.
Anonymous Usage Analytics: To understand how many people use the App and which features they interact with, we record feature events (for example, "the Feed tab was opened") along with a random identifier generated on your device the first time you open the App. This identifier:
We use this identifier only to count unique users and measure feature usage so we can improve the App.
Optional Location Analytics (opt-in): If you choose to opt in via Settings → Analytics, we also receive your ZIP code and the list of artists in your library so we can understand regional music interest. This opt-in data uses a separate, server-generated identifier and can be turned off at any time. You are never required to opt in to use the App.
The App connects to the following external services to provide its features:
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We only send the minimum data required (typically an artist name or song title) to these services.
All user preferences, saved contacts, recent shares, and listening history are stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults and App Group containers. This data is not backed up to our servers.
Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store any payment information.
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
