Last updated: July 12, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the 8-bit Bytes mobile application ("App") provided by Impostor Software LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using 8-bit Bytes, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

8-bit Bytes is a microlearning app that teaches enterprise technology topics โ€” Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) and Identity Management โ€” through short lessons and quizzes, with an in-app gamified company builder ("Byte & Co."). The App is available on iOS and Android.

3. Educational Use Only

Lesson content is curated and adapted from public sources such as RFCs, NIST publications, and industry whitepapers for educational purposes. 8-bit Bytes is a study aid and is not a substitute for official certification training, legal advice, or compliance guidance. We do not guarantee that completing lessons or quizzes will result in passing any third-party certification exam (including CompTIA Security+, CISM, or Microsoft AZ-500), which are administered by unaffiliated organizations.

4. User Accounts

8-bit Bytes does not require account registration. Your lesson progress, quiz scores, bookmarks, and highlights are stored locally on your device.

5. Advertising and Purchases

The free version of the App displays ads served by Google AdMob. The App may offer optional in-app purchases (such as removing ads), processed by Apple or Google through their respective app stores. We do not collect or store payment information.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

7. Third-Party Services

The App uses Google AdMob to serve ads and Amazon Web Services to deliver lesson content and narration audio. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, its lesson text, quizzes, gamification design, code, and branding are the property of Impostor Software LLC. Underlying public-source material (RFCs, NIST publications, industry whitepapers) referenced or adapted in lessons remains the property of its respective publishers and is used for educational, informational purposes.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that lesson content is complete, current, or error-free. Always consult official standards documentation and certification bodies for authoritative guidance.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Impostor Software LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including reliance on lesson content for professional or certification purposes.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
